62 million men? (Mothering Boys Collective April 30th)

Right now my social media feed is filled with the “62 million men at the online ‘Rape Academy.” There are reports that the number is highly exaggerated. Regardless, it’s profoundly disturbing. As I got my boys ready for school this morning, I carried this story in the back of my mind - the horrors of men doing this to their partners and wives, coupled with the media’s exaggeration of the numbers and the flooding of our feeds.

We’re having to process the enormity and repulsiveness of actual events, while also having to discern when we’re being manipulated into hypervigilance and fear, and what the end goal of that is. The message seems to be that if you think there are good men out there, they’re all wolves in sheeps’ clothing, so you can never rest, never trust. You’re always being hunted
even by your partner.

How do we digest this? How do we separate what’s actually happening to us and not happening to us when it’s constantly flooding our senses? What does that do to our nervous system?

đŸ”» Am I surrounded by predators?

đŸ”» Are there any safe relationships?

đŸ”» How do I keep myself and my children from being vulnerable?

We need a healthy nervous system to discern and protect, rather than freeze or collapse under threat. We need a healthy nervous system to be able to bond with others to build a protective community. We need a healthy nervous system to be able to orient towards and actually feel what’s good and safe in our lives.

We have to be able to stay aware of who/what is a threat, while also having the vitality and clarity to work towards what we want to create. If we’re only focused on threat, that threat still has all the power. We take back our power by also focusing our energy on what we’re creating for a more humane and connected world
as defined by us.

I do this by supporting women to be as vital, integrated and courageous as possible.

I do this by supporting mothers who can raise boys to be that way too - boys who can grow up to be the embodied, attuned, emotionally mature and accountable men our world needs.

I’ll be leading a 6-week Mothering Boys Collective starting April 30th. I’m only inviting those of you on my mailing list for this round, so we can have a smaller, more intimate group experience.

We are all “Motherless” (Mothering Boys Starts 4/30)
Last week I wrote about “62 million men visiting a porn site that had content described as a ‘Rape Academy’” - one in which men gave tutorials about how to drug their partners so they could do the unthinkable. While the number of men who actually were part of the group was exaggerated, there’s still a porn site with that content that gets 62 million views per month.  The name of the website is...
Dinner then The Matriarchy
All over my social media feed is talk about the matriarchy. I’ve been talking about it too. And I noticed a trend. When I post about the inequity and victimization, I get a lot of engagement. When I talk about what we can do to start taking action
crickets.  I don’t think it’s because people are lazy and just want to vent. I think it’s because so many are just so overwhelmed. We want to live i...
🎯 Staying on target in troubled times
I want to share some body-based realism for this moment in time.  I’m a woman who - for better or for worse - has always felt deeply the injustice of the world and the pain and suffering of others, but also with a clear vision of what could be.   Fresh out of college I worked in shelters for women and children who were survivors of domestic violence. I volunteered for an alternative school in ...
