Dinner then The Matriarchy

All over my social media feed is talk about the matriarchy. Iāve been talking about it too. And I noticed a trend. When I post about the inequity and victimization, I get a lot of engagement. When I talk about what we can do to start taking actionā¦crickets.
I donāt think itās because people are lazy and just want to vent. I think itās because so many are just so overwhelmed. We want to live in a world without the horrors weāre being exposed to. We may be thinking about it constantly. We do deep dives online about itā¦then get back to getting the kids ready for school, working our job so we can pay for housing, health insurance, and food, do something to take care of our bodies, make dinner, try to have some human interaction that feels good, and get some decent sleep.
How do we as women create the world we want to live in when weāre juggling the overwhelm of the world we currently live in?
I believe you have far more power than you think and it will take less effort than you imagine.
I have some ideas.
First, we have to define it. This isnāt about women having power over men in the ways theyāve had power over us. Whatās referred to as a matriarchy is a circular community, with the most vulnerable at the center. Itās focused on communal care and connection to Mother Earth. Some claim this to be non-hierarchical, but I would argue that a healthy society would have some hierarchy based on elderhood, life experience and wisdom.
Second, we focus on embodiment. At the heart of a Matriarchy is the nurturing and protection of Life, rather than destruction of it. The only way we will learn how to nourish and protect Life is to understand how to nourish and protect our own life force (prana). When we understand what that means in our own bodies, weāll know what to value. Those life-protecting values will serve as the foundation of our collective. Embodiment is essential. Ayurveda and Somatics are powerful practices for this.
Third, we listen to and learn from ancestral and indigenous wisdom. This wisdom teaches us that our bodies are a reflection of Mother Nature - the Great Mother. She is always trying to nourish us. She is the great nervous system regulator.
It also teaches us HOW. It gives us a paradigm. It gives us the practices.
You might be reading this and thinking, āOh, just that!? Sure, Iāll get right to that after I drop the kids off at practice and make dinner.ā
Yes, many people are in survival mode. And I also believe in helping people maintain their agency. Thatās why I do nervous system work with Somatics and Ayurveda - to resolve trauma and build womenās capacity to take action towards what they want. Itās powerful, deep medicine that goes to the root without a ton of effort. These modalities meet you where you are. Really small efforts then open up more and more capacity over time.
Iām still offering Ayurvedic & Somatic 1:1 sessions. You can schedule a session here:
We wonāt build a world centered on Life rather than destruction and extraction by just talking. We need to embody it. The wisdom is there for us.
Much love,
Courtney
P.S. Iām still offering astrology reading too. You can schedule a Vedic Astrology reading here.
