Conversations on Mothering Boys: Heal Our Bodies & Raise the Sons Our World Needs
When a Mother's Depletion Becomes Her Son's Dysregulation - and how Eastern Medicine and Somatics Can Help
HOSTED BY DR. CLAUDIA WELCH, COURTNEY LACAVA AND MARK MOREY
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2026 | 1:00PM EASTERN
RESERVE YOUR SPOTWe live in a culture that normalizes women’s depletion, rooted in disconnection from The Village and the ancestral wisdom intended to serve the generations that follow.
Amidst all this, mothers are raising boys without essential communal support and guidance, in a rapidly changing world targeting their sons' hearts, minds and nervous systems.
We keep treating boys' radicalization and women's depletion as separate cultural problems with separate solutions. What if they're the same wound, and what would it mean to heal them at the same source?
If you're a mother to a boy, you may be asking yourself…
How do I remain a strong enough presence in my son's life when the online spaces celebrating anger and dominance are available to him around the clock?
How do I recognize what my son is genuinely hungry for and become a source of it, before dominant culture offers him a distorted version?
How do I nurture in my son a felt sense of belonging - rooted in his body, our family, and genuine community - so he isn't vulnerable to the groups that offer brotherhood and identity but are built on contempt, exclusion, and harm?
How do I find my power to counter the misogyny and normalization of dominance shaping my son when I can barely counter my own exhaustion?
How do I rebuild my capacity for pleasure, rest, and embodied aliveness, and what becomes possible in my mothering when I fuel my life from Source energy rather than stress energy?
How do I nourish myself back to genuine aliveness when I've been at the bottom of my own list for so long, and what is my son learning about how to treat women from watching how I treat myself?
These aren't rhetorical questions. They're the ones mothers are living with every day. And they're the ones Dr. Claudia Welch, Courtney LaCava and Mark Morey will be sitting with together on October 8th.
This isn't a workshop. It's a conversation - an honest, grounded discussion about what Eastern medicine and Somatic wisdom have to say about one of the most urgent questions of our time: how do mothers heal themselves and raise sons who will help heal the world?
Dr. Welch's decades of work on yin depletion and women's hormonal health has been foundational to Courtney's own practice. What Courtney has been exploring is the next layer of that work: how collective and generational yin depletion in women and men is shaping the boys being raised right now, and what can actually be done about it.Ā Mark Morey has been guiding spiritual rites of passage for teen boys for decades, and will speak to the necessity of rebuilding community in fractured culture, and why our boys desperately need this.
In this conversation they'll explore:
- The connection between a mother's depletion and her son's dysregulation, and why healing one addresses the other
- The role of the mother's own body, nervous system, and vitality in shaping who her son is becoming
- How yin depletion and unpartnered yang in our culture shows up in boys as emotional disconnection, excess aggression, and vulnerability to harmful communities
- What Eastern medicine and Somatic wisdom offer that conventional parenting approaches miss
- What it looks like to mother from Source energy rather than stress energy, and how to begin
- The role of community-building, eldering and rites of passage for boys, and how this impacts individual and family development
This conversation is for mothers already doing the inner work who want to understand more deeply how it connects to their son's development.
It's for those familiar with Ayurveda or Eastern medicine who haven't yet made this particular connection. And it's for practitioners working with women who want a fuller picture of how feminine depletion ripples outward into the next generation.
Come as you are. Bring your questions. This is a space for genuine conversation
